LEAF HOUND - Growers Of Mushroom LEAF HOUND
The 'Thousand Club' is a new series of exclusive pressings, ranging from All-Analogue cuts of iconic catalogue titles to bespoke compilations from both artists and specialized curators.
Formed in the late 1960s, Leaf Hound are a British rock band whose raw, blues-driven sound helped define theheavier end of early hard rock and laid important groundwork for what would later evolve into stoner rock. Built around fuzz-laden guitar tones, punchy rhythm sections, and Peter French’s commanding vocal delivery, the band developed a direct, high-impact style that prioritised groove, weight, and analogue warmth. Their 1971 album Growers of Mushroom is widely regarded as their definitive release—a tightly executed collection of hard-edged tracks that capture the band’s energy with minimal studio interference, resulting in a dynamic, unpolished sound that resonates strongly with audiophiles and collectors alike.
Although it received limited recognition at the time of release, the album has since undergone significant reappraisal, earning cult status and becoming a highly sought-after title within the vinyl community. Its reputation for heavy, riff-driven songwriting and authentic period production has cemented its place as a key influence on later generations of hard rock and stoner bands, making Growers of Mushroom an essential addition for collectors seeking foundational recordings from the era.
This edition has been cut for an all-analogue release by Alex Wharton at Abbey Road Studios.
